There are a number of places that offer the High Tea experience in Montreal. Before you brush it off as an upper-class British ceremony I’d just like to point out that tea was actually introduced to England by Portuguese aristocracy. It’s the complete opposite of a bourgeois tradition and actually quite popular across the city.
If you’d like a cozy environment you can try Gryphon d’Or in NDG or Bar A Beurre. Or, if you're looking for the bourgeois vibe that high tea has come to be known by, the Ritz-Carlton Montreal has been doing so since 1912.
Either way it’s a great opportunity to relax and enjoy a variety of sandwiches, scones and other pastries (while drinking out of floral teacups, of course).

As much you might want to stay inside on cold, gloomy days Montreal winters are the perfect excuse to drink hot cocoa!

Music lovers living in Montreal are in for an exciting year.
In 2020, both local and international artists will be visiting the city including: Elton John to Céline Dion, Ozzy Osbourne, Post Malone, Marie-Mai, Harry Styles, The Lumineers and more.
Major concerts like Céline might require planning but that doesn’t mean they’re the only places you can go to hear live music.
Upstairs Jazz Bar and Grill and Le Balcon offer live Jazz shows and La Sala Rossa, Casa del Popolo and La Vitrola showcase internationally touring bands as well as local artists before and after they get big.
Montreal is home to two major markets: Atwater and Jean Talon.
The Jean-Talon Market is one of North America's largest farmers' markets and on top of offering a wide range of produce, they also have homemade goods and a number of places to sit down and have lunch.
While strolling through one of the local markets may seem like a date suitable for warmer weather, The Atwater Market was actually turned into a Christmas village this past year. Every weekend from November 29 to December 22, the Atwater market was dressed up like a Christmas village with wooden kiosks from local artisans, twinkle lights, bonfires and enough decoration for the entire city.
Magical right?
Dollar Cinema provides a less expensive movie going experience for Montrealers. With admission starting at $2.50 or less and all snacks at $1.00, it's totally accessible and charming.
Their philosophy is that movie-going doesn’t need to be an expensive outing.
It’s not the cineplex so they’re not known for playing the latest Avenger movie, but it’s still a great place to see a movie you wouldn’t have otherwise chosen (and only for a few dollars!).
I know what you’re thinking (and yes it is freezing outside) but that’s why we all wear four or five layers, plus a hat and mittens. Thanks to some recent snowfall and some slightly cooler temperatures, winter activities are now open to the public.
“Tubing Under the Stars is officially open according to Les Amis de la Montagne. Two lanes are reserved for snow tubing, right next to the toboggan hill overlooking Beaver Lake. Daily passes are available at the equipment rental counter located on the ground level of the Beaver Lake Pavilion or at the foot of the snow-tubing corridors.
Just remember to check the Winter Site Conditions to see if the snow tubing is open before heading to Mont Royal.
