SeniorDatingAdvice.co.uk recently released their ‘World Dating Report 2020’ in an attempt to offer singletons an overview on the best countries for dating.
The report is based on the perception of its residents. So things like friendliness, fun, sexiness, trustworthiness and approachability were taken into consideration, as well as the best and worst male lovers and countries where Tinder is used most to connect with local residents using the Passport feature.
Best countries for dating - here we come.
Canada took 6th place, with cities like Toronto usually seeing spikes in dating over the holidays. According to the report, “areas with smaller permanent populations see their users rise during the holiday season, like Toronto, which has increased 44 per cent.”
So? What’s the verdict? In descending order the best countries for dating according to Millennials, include:
1. Brazil
2. Italy
3. Spain
4. Australia
5. New Zealand
6. Canada
7. Thailand
8. Netherlands
9. France
10. Mexico
Brazil isn’t only the best country for dating, it was also ranked second in One Poll’s “best lover’s list”. Turns out Brazilians like to move things along pretty quickly and according to Living Like a Local you've you can expect to have a relationship talk with them even after only a few dates. Brazil was ranked as being “fun, friendly, sexy and approachable.”
Italy was ranked #2 in the U.S News & World Report and apparently romance plays a huge role. While they may earn second place for romance the report warns against getting too weak-kneed around just anyone. As Ilaria Perrone, an Italian columnist, said in an interview with The Cut that, "Italian men are romantic, but they are also liars."
According to the report, Italians usually wait until they are older before marrying, with the average age of marriage for men being 34 and 31 for women, meaning you can take things slowly with an Italian!
Ah can't you feel the stress and pressure dissipate? I can!
Followed by Brazil, Italy and France, “women from 20 nations rated Spain as number one on the ‘best lover’ list”, according to a 2010 OnePoll survey. Barcelona is also the 3rd best city to date and the 9th most-swiped Tinder Passport destination.
The report suggests you “play it cool” as “Spanish people have likely come across many hot-tempered partners in their time,” which is why having a more relaxed and laid attitude will impress them - oh and they’re not known for having a natural talent for dance.
Australians aren’t known for having a lot of rules which makes for some pretty fun and flexible dating culture. Known for exploring the world on two-year gap years, Australians are also known for their incredible sport culture.
Sports play a huge role in socializing and, according to the report, “All kinds of sports take place over the weekend and they’ll want to watch at least one game, so bear this in mind and try not to get too annoyed by their love of all things sport.”
Unlike North America, where online dating has become a staple for finding a future partner, singles of New Zealand are more likely to find a date in person than online.
“Old-fashioned” dating is still pretty prominent in New Zealand, since it’s also one of the few countries to lack enough people to keep popular dating apps filled with potential dates. Dating apps like Tinder and Bumble run out of potential matches quite frequently due to lack of activity so you’re better off hitting up the local bar or coffee shop.
